Little Sun was founded in 2012 by Olafur Eliasson and Frederik Ottesen. Their collaboration produced the Little Sun lamp—a small, portable, solar light—that was first distributed to people living without electricity in Ethiopia.
Today, Little Sun works together with communities living without electricity to implement ways to use solar power in Sub-Saharan Africa.
The Little Sun solar lamp and symbol is based on the Ethiopian Adey Abeba flower, a national symbol of positivity and beauty, resonates with people on an emotional level – it communicates a universal message of hope and connectivity.
Collaborating closely with Little Sun, we work together to bring light to those in need. Distributing solar lamps across Africa, giving access to light energy is an important step forward to empower communities.
We bring solar lights to children in Sub-Saharan Africa so they can benefit from a safer, healthier, and more productive learning experience. Harvesting the power of the sun, the solar lamp enables study after dark, walking home from school can feel safer and families to reduce the effects of toxic fumes from fuel.
